Elmer Stein

October 31, 1911 - May 1, 2007

Elmer C. Stein was born near Shattuc, Illinois on October 31, 1911, a son of William and Ida (Oexemann) Stein. He married Lorna Kuhlenengelken on November 2, 1946, at St. John's Church in New Minden, Illinois.

Elmer farmed, and later worked at the Ferrin Coop Equity Exchange for 26 years. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ferrin, the Ferrin Miens' Club, and the Silver Heirs.

Elmer C. Stein entered into rest on Tuesday, May 1, 2007, at Carlyle Healthcare Center in Carlyle, Illinois.

In addition to his wife Lorna Stein of Ferrin, Illinois, Mr. Stein is survived by a daughter - Shirley Norrenberns and husband Steve of Carlyle, Illinois; 2 grandchildren - Ryan (Ellen) Norrenberns of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Rachel (Richard) Rees of Vandalia, Illinois; 4 great grandchildren - Samuel and Jack Norrenberns and Emily and Lillian Rees; 2 sisters - Irma Bach and Norma Burtz, both of Carlyle and 2 sisters-in-law - Florence Stein and Alvera Redeker.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers - Martin and Richard Stein and 3 brothers-in-law - Paul Bach, Ray Burtz, and Wilbert Redeker.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, May 3, 2007, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ferrin with Rev. Ryan Willis officiating. Interment will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to attend visiting hours at Zieren Day Funeral Home in Carlyle on Wednesday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM, and Thursday from 8:00 AM until 10:00 A.M.

Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mr. Stein are suggested to Bethlehem Lutheran Church Building Fund, or Christ Our Rock Lutheran High School and will be received at the funeral home.
