Life Legacy


James Joseph Snyder, age 71 of Long Neck, DE passed away suddenly on Sunday, July 10, 2011. Born in Pittsburgh, PA on June 15, 1940, he was the son of the late James R. and Zoe Belle (Thompson) Snyder. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, George Snyder.

James has lived in Delaware for the past 10 years, coming from Duanesburg, NY. He retired as service supervisor for General Electric Medical Systems of Albany, NY after working 35 years. He lived on a small hobby farm in NY where he and his wife raised sheep. He was involved in the Settles Hill Beagle Club, raising beagles on his farm. He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church and sang in the church choir.

James was the biggest Pittsburgh Steelers Fan in Delaware.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Barbara M. (Swayze) Snyder, one son, James R. Snyder and his wife Rebecca of Selbyville, DE; two daughters: Barbara M. Floeser and her husband John of Altamont, NY and Jodie Lynn Tierney and her husband James of Pewaukee, WI; two sisters: Elizabeth Trocchio of Pittsburgh, PA and Beverly Daley of Savannah, GA. He is also survived by ten beloved grandchildren; Grace and Julia Snyder, Katherine, John and Brian Kowalski, Samuel, Abigail and Jeffrey Tierney and Christopher and Stephanie Floeser and two great grandchildren, Sydney and Zander Floeser.
His loss will also be felt greatly by his many cherished nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Mary Mother of Peace Catholic Church,
30839 Mt. Joy Road, Millsboro, DE 19966. The family will greet friends at the church beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will be private.
