Life Legacy

Mr. Hoke S. Archer, Sr., of Newnan, Ga., formerly of Jake Community passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2011. He was born December 25, 1916 in Bowdon, Georgia to the late L.P. Archer and Loreena Steed Archer. Mr. Archer was a retired construction worker having built numerous buildings in Atlanta which included the governor’s mansion. He was a member of Union United Methodist Church and the Bremen Masonic Lodge. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter in law, Patricia Archer and 6 brothers. Survivors include his wife to whom he was married for 75 years, Hattie Chaney Archer; children, Hoke & Earline Archer, Jr., William Leon Archer, Sr., Jean & Virgil King all of Newnan and Phyllis Archer Norton of Conyers; also 14 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, June 16, 2011 at 11 AM from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Pastor Britt Madden and Rev. Charles Thomas officiating. Music will be rendered by Harold McWhorter. Pallbearers will be Russ Norton, Shannon Archer, Bill Archer, Eric Archer, Danny Archer and David Archer. Interment will follow in Union United Methodist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Carroll County Alzheimer’s Association, PO Box 1273, Carrollton, Ga., 30112 or Southwest Christian Hospice, 7225 Lester Rd., Union City, Ga., 30291. Messages of condolences may be sent to the family at Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel of Carrollton has charge of the arrangements.
