Esperance (Schoharie County): James M. Nolen, 76, of Charleston Street, died Friday, January 12th at his residence after a long illness.
James was born December 22, 1930 in Wetumka, Oklahoma, a son of James M. and Ora (Pierce) Nolen. He has resided in Esperance since 1964. He was a graduate of Wetumka High School and began his career as a welder. He worked for the Welders and Pipe fitters Union Local#073, Oswego, NY and had worked on such projects as the Blenheim-Gilboa Pumped Storage Project. He also operated Nolen's Welding in Esperance for many years. He was an honorary member of the Esperance Fire Department.
He is survived by: his wife, June E. (Brown) Nolen, whom he married August 22, 1964. 4 Children: Carl (Bonnie) Cummings, of Esperance, Diana Fagnani, of Christiana, Pennsylvania, Kraig (Valerie) Cummings, and Darryl (Sandy) Cummings, both of Esperance. 3 Brothers; Don, Roy, and Lynn Nolen, all of Oklahoma. 2 Sisters; Wanda Richmond and Thelma Goodspeed, both of Oklahoma. 9 Grandchildren; Matthew Fagnani, III, Michael Fagnani, Shannon, Alex, Andrew, Alicia, Trevor and Sara Cummings and Eric Jennett. 2 Great-grandchildren also survive as do several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Doris Nolen and a brother, Bob Nolen.
Mr. Nolen has made an anatomical gift to the Albany Medical College. A memorial service will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, January 20th at the Esperance Presbyterian Church, Church Street, Esperance. Reverend Bert Mayne, Pastor, will officiate.
