Biography

Alexander Jason Konitski, 16, of Rockford died at 9:22 a.m. at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center after a sudden illness. Born in Rockford on November 5, 1991 to Allen and Cheryl (Anderson) Konitski.

Survivors include his parents Allen & Cheryl Konitski of Rockford, his siblings, Stephan (Zandra) Northrup, Nicole Konitski and Jessica Konitski. Niece, Gabriella Northrup, grandparents, Stephan Anderson, Eugene & Margaret Konitski. Aunts & Uncles, Deb & Odel Underwood, Bonnie Bretzinger, Barb & Dave Morris, Bev & Don Hansel, Rich & Monica Konitski, Doug & Deanna Konitski and numerous cousins. He was predeceased by his grandmother Ginger Anderson.

Alexander was a Junior at Jefferson High School and he enjoyed his involvement with the Rockford Park District Therapeutic Recreation Department which filled his life with wheelchair sports of all kinds including basketball, golf, softball, football, tennis and hockey. He was a team player for the Rockford Jr. Chariots, proudly wearing the number 33. Attended Camp Ability; Spina Bifida Association of Illinois for the last 3 years. A special thank you to the Rockford School Nurses & Case managers, the staff of NIA, the staff of Septran busing, Rockford Chariots Wheelchair Athletic Association and Jr. Chariots players and families and all of his friends & faculty at Jefferson High School. He loved spending time at The Crazy Penguin Gaming Facility.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday October 21, 2008 at Westminster Presbyterian Church 2821 N. Bell School Rd. with the Rev. Bill Ward officiating. Visitation will take place from 6-9 p.m. Monday October 20, 2008 at Julian-Poorman-Welte Funeral Home 304 N. 5th St. Rockford. Burial at Scandinavian Cemetery.
