Biography

Born in Pretare, Italy, she immigrated to the United States in 1956 and has been a lifelong resident of Highland Park. Maria was a seamstress and taught the art of dress making in Italy. After coming to the United States, she worked at Bond Clothes in New Brunswick and later for the House of Fashions in Highland Park where she became the owner and operator. Maria made custom bridal gowns and people came from places afar just to purchase her quality work. She was a communicant at St. Paul the Apostle R.C. Church in Highland Park where she was a member of the Altar Rosary Society and their Senior Citizens Group. She was also a member of the Highland Park Senior Citizens Group. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Joseph in 1993 and a brother, Anthony Angelini in 1982. Maria is survived by her children, Tilde Lerman and her husband, Alfred, of Coral Springs, FL, Rocco Funari and his wife, Judy of Piscataway and Enrica Funari of Highland Park. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Mara and Marleene Lerman, Andriana Schneider, and Dino and Nicholas Funari. Funeral Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, November 24, 2007 at the Jaqui-Kuhn Funeral Home, 17 South Adlelaide Avenue, Highland Park followed by a 10:30 a.m. Funeral Liturgy at St. Paul the Apostle R.C. Church, Highland Park. Entombment will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery Mausoleum, New Brunswick. Relatives and friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Funeral Home.
