Willis E. Yoder

March 28, 1923 - October 10, 2012

WILLIS E. YODER, 89, of Arthur, IL passed away at 2:05 A.M. on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at the Arthur Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at the Arthur Mennonite Church, 710 E. Park St., Arthur, IL. Rev. Glen Rhodes will officiate. Burial will be in the Arthur Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Friday, October 12, 2012 at the Arthur Mennonite Church. The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with the arrangements.

Willis was born March 28, 1923 in Arthur, IL. He was a son of Eli D. and Katie Ann (Mast) Yoder. He married Katie Blucker on May 14, 1944 in Arthur, IL. She passed away on December 5, 2010.

Survivors include two children Judy Jones and her husband Bob of Mattoon, IL and Gary Yoder and his wife Judy of Decatur, IL; nine grandchildren, Garth Jones, David Simmons, Victoria Christie and her husband Rick, Aaron Simmons, Andrew Simmons and his wife Kari, Jared Yoder, Tiffany Navarrete and her husband Jose, Ashley Yoder and Bethany Yoder; ten great-grandchildren; two, brothers Adlai Yoder of Sullivan, IL and Daniel Yoder of Elkhart, IN and four sisters, Susanna Herschberger of Arthur, IL, Edna Otto and her husband Eli of Leonard, MO, Sovilla Gingerich of Arthur, IL and Elsie Schrock of Arthur, IL.

His parents, one grandson, Tyler Jones, a stillborn brother, his twin brother, Willard Yoder, and two sisters, Mattie Yoder and Verna Miller preceded him in death.

Willis was a member of the Arthur Mennonite Church.

He farmed in Moultrie and Douglas Counties for over fifty years. He also raised hogs, did some custom spraying and repaired radiators.

Willis enjoyed spending time with family and friends and most recently he truly appreciated the caring staff at the Arthur Home and the many visits he had from his church family and friends.

Memorials may be made to the Arthur Mennonite Church or the Arthur Home.
