November 28, 1927 - June 2, 2006
SHREWSBURY- Donald N. Brockett, 78, of Lenox Drive, Shrewsbury, passed away Friday, June 2 at UMASS-Memorial Hospital.

Born on November 28, 1927 in New Haven, CT, Don was the oldest child of Nelson Bishop and Mildred Bassett Brockett. He spent his youth in North Haven, CT, and upon graduation from Hillhouse High School, joined the US Navy, serving two tours of duty during WWII and the Korean War. He graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1954 and was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity.

Upon graduation, he worked at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft and the former Billing
Spencer Co. of Hartford before going to work as a sales engineer for the Wyman-Gordon Company.

Don was an avid reader who loved golf, sailing, fishing, music, his grandchildren and life in general- He will be remembered for his wit and great sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Phyllis (Walford) Brockett; two sons and
Daughters-in-law, David and Dawn Brockett of Manchester, NH, and Peter and Laura Brockett of Randolph, NH; a daughter, Elizabeth Brockett of Dover. NH, a brother, David F. Brockett, of Anaheim, CA; sisters Elizabeth Meyer of Versailles, KY and Joan Goodwill of Ballston Lake, NY; and grandchildren Ian and Emily Brockett of Raleigh, NC, Christopher and Sarah Brockett of Randolph, NH, and Megan Brockett of Manchester, NH.
Calling hours will be Friday June 9, from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main St., Shrewsbury. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 10, at 11:00 AM at the First Congregational Church, 19 Church Rd., Shrewsbury. Burial will be private.
