Life Legacy
WALLINGFORD - Ruth O. Schipke, 95, formerly of East Main Street departed this life on Thursday, July 22, 2010 at the Masonic Healthcare Center. She was the wife of the late Frederick Schipke.
She was born in Brooklyn, NY on April 12, 1915 a daughter of the late Edward A. and Hattie (Beach) Osborne.
Mrs. Schipke was a graduate of Mt. Vernon Hospital School of Nursing and until her retirement, she was employed as a registered nurse at the former Meriden - Wallingford Hospital. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Wallingford. She was an avid knitter, Scrabble player, and loved crossword puzzles. She supported Lyman Hall sports and the UConn basketball teams.
She is survived by her son, Jimmy F. Schipke and his wife Diane of Wilmington, VT and her daughter, Jean Schipke of Roper, NC.
A private funeral service was led by the Rev. Dean Warburton of the First Congregational Church of Wallingford. Burial was at the In Memoriam Cemetery.
