Mrs. Lois Ferrell Richardson, 82, formerly of 437 South Woodberry Avenue, died at Danville Regional Medical Center on Friday, August 19, 2011. She had been a resident of Roman Eagle Memorial Home since January.
Mrs. Richardson was born on November 13, 1928 in Danville, a daughter of the late Henry K. Ferrell, Sr. and the late Rosa Eastwood Ferrell. She lived her entire life in Danville and was a graduate of George Washington High School, Class of 1948. She retired from C & P Telephone Company after 35 years of service and was a life member of the Verizon Pioneers. She was a member of Third Avenue Congregational Christian Church and the Chapel Bible Sunday School Class. She was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, John Daves Richardson.
Mrs. Richardson is survived by her daughter, Janet R. Anderson and husband Barry, of Danville, her son, John A. Richardson and wife Lisa, of Archdale, N.C., four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sister, Jeannette Rose of Virginia Beach, her brother, Reginald Ferrell and wife, Sandra, her stepsister, Barbara Hunt, her stepbrother, Glen Reynolds all of Danville, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Henry K. Ferrell, Jr.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 22, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. from the Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel with the Reverend Frederick Vicks officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening at the funeral home from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. and at other times at the residence, 437 S. Woodberry Avenue.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to her church or Danville Humane Society.
