Biography

Olga C. Bischoff, age 93 of Park River, ND passed away on Saturday, January 02, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Center of Park River. She had been a resident of Park River for 58 years.
Olga Christine Bischoff was born on April 15, 1916 in Robinson, North Dakota to Gilbert and Emma (Gilbertson) Soleim. Olga was raised on the family farm near Robinson. She was educated in Robinson. She married Erwin Bischoff on August 10, 1936 in Jamestown, North Dakota. Her husband Erwin preceded her in death in 2003. They were married for 67 years.
Olgaís mother passed away while she was young and she and her older sister, along with their dad, were tasked with raising her two younger brothers. She learned to play guitar in her teen years and had the opportunity to sing and play on a radio station in Bismarck. Her love of music continued throughout her life.
When first married, Olga and Erwin moved from farm to farm as Erwinís job with the Farm Home Loan took him to various locations. They lived in Jamestown while Erwin worked in a body shop. In 1941 they purchased a blacksmith shop in Robinson. They lived there for 10 years before moving to Park River. Olga was a homemaker, in the strictest sense. She was able to create a loving, caring home during her youth and throughout her marriage. She was a survivor of the depression, and saw many lean years, yet she always put her family first and provided a secure nurturing home for her family.
Olga is survived by her children: Dennis (Carole) Bischoff of Grand Forks, Duane (BettySue) Bischoff of Leaburg, Oregon, Arlis (Mary) Bischoff of Grafton and Renee (Bob) Manz of Bloomer, Wisconsin. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 22 1/2 great grandchildren, 1 step great grandchild and 2 great great grandchildren. Olga had one sister and 2 brothers, all of which are deceased.
Olga was a lifelong Lutheran and a member of Our Saviourís Lutheran Church of Park River.
