Life Legacy

Elsie Amelia Paonessa (nee: Allor), age 83 of Warren, Michigan was promoted into eternal life on Sunday, April 15, 2012.

Elsie was born January 29, 1929 in Grosse Pointe Farms, the daughter of Raymond William Allor and Rose Elizabeth (nee: Covert) Allor and was joined in Holy matrimony with Anthony Thomas Paonessa on September 20th, 1947.

A 50 plus year resident of Warren, Elsie never lived more than 10 miles from the farms her family had settled in the 18th century. While raising her six children, Elsie worked from her home as a seamstress creating everything from draperies to wedding gowns. Her quilts, ceramics, and other crafts earned her dozens of State Fair ribbons as well as positions of honored display in the homes of family and friends. Always ready to help, Elsie was a Girl Scout leader, Cub Scout leader, volunteer worker with cancer patients, catechism teacher, classroom mom, adult reading volunteer, and the first contact whenever a neighborhood child was hurt. Besides her ancestry from the original families of Grosse Poinnte, Elsie traced her descent from the first families of New York, Boston and Quebec, earning her membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Elsie is survived by her husband of 64 years, Tom Paonessa; brothers Raymond (Mary) Allor Jr. and Leonard Allor; sister in law Jeanne Vernier; daughter Christine (William) Wylie; sons Thomas (Diana) Paonessa, Philip (Diane) Paonessa, Daniel (Cynthia) Paonessa, Joseph (Janis) Paonessa; grandchildren Tony Boldrey, Joe (Brandy) Benedict, Amy Engle, Jennifer Mason, Beth (Dan) Mathews, Kathy (Joe) Schaeffer, Angela (Ryan) Reynolds, Debbie (Chris) Luckstead, Rachel (Matt) Parker, Ryan (Kassondra) Paonessa, Andy Paonessa, Jake Paonessa, Anthony Paonessa and Jason Paonessa. Great-grandchildren, Karissa Mason, Cassie Benedict, Abigail Benedict, Kaelyn Parker, Caedon Mathews, and Cillian Reynolds; numerous nieces and nephews, as well as her extended family of Carol West, Shonna Trameri, Kathleen Corey and Laura Stokes who provided her with comfort and dignity as she prepared for her return to Heaven. Elsie was predeceased by her parents; stepmother Hazel (Fleury) Allor; daughter, Linda; sister, Lotus; sister in law, Barb Allor and step brother, Edmund Vernier.

Visitation for Elsie will be Wednesday 3-9pm with a 7:30pm Funeral Service at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road at Common (12 ½ Mile Road).
