Biography

Blythewood: A memorial service for Mrs. Doris Evelyn Kinard, 75, of Blythewood, will be held 1 o’clock, Saturday, July 11, 2009, at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia. The Rev. Hector Pineda and The Rev. Laurie Pineda will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Humane SPCA, 121 Humane Lane, Columbia, SC 29209.

Mrs. Kinard died, Friday, July 3, 2009. Born September 8, 1933 in Blythewood, SC, she was a daughter of the late James David Hoopaugh and the late Ethel Ora Lee Trapp. Mrs. Kinard loved adventures, shopping garage sales and fishing. She enjoyed buying gifts for others and gardening, especially flowers.

Survivors include her husband, George M. Kinard; step-children, Susan Young of Winnsboro and Alan George Kinard of Irmo; daughter, Carmen Swindler and husband Joseph; brother, Furman William Hoopaugh and wife Nellie; grandchildren, Wilton Godwin (Suzanne) and Alesha Henderson (Steve); step-grandchildren, Jessica Lyn Swindler, David, Melissa and Emily Young, Britney and Sarah Kinard; great-grandchildren, Kayla and Wesley Henderson and Payton Godwin and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Kinard was preceded in death by brothers, John D. “JD” and George F. Hoopaugh and sisters, Edith McCaston, Gracie Ritter Manoth and Louise Cook.
