"Mr. Rodney Tyrone Caldwell was born August 27, 1947 in St. Louis, Missouri to the union of Earline (Bell) Caldwell and Fredrick Martin Caldwell. His father preceded him in death. Rodney was a member of Fellowship of Faith International Church in Atlanta, Georgia. Rodney graduated from Compton High School in California and attended Compton Junior College. He served in the United States Army from 1967-1973 and received an Honorable Discharge in 1973. Rodney united in Holy Matrimony with Charlotte Gray Caldwell. Rodney had several occupations. The one he enjoyed most was being an over the road truck driver. He was athletic and a fun loving person. He was a batboy for the Cleveland Indians Baseball Team from 1955-1957. He was a member of the Browns Baseball Team; a member of the California Athletic Association and he played Semi-Pro Baseball with the Compton Browns. Rodney loved music and he loved to dance. He had a love of life and he fought until the end. He made friends everywhere he went. He had a green thumb and could make anything grow. Rodney departed this life at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, January 18, 2010 at Barnes - Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. Rodney leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Charlotte Caldwell; mother, Earline Caldwell; children, Miesha Caldwell, Cozene Watson, Deami Watson, Robert Goliday, Charles Goliday, Carolyn Jones and Barbara Jones; granddaughter,De??Miyah Johnson; six sisters, Joyce Wheeler (Chip), Vonnie Alamon (Roy), Brenda Wright, Linda Brewer, Patricia Rhems (Alex) and Diane Bowen; brother, Victor Caldwell (Sylvia); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends."
