Edgar J. Eberly, 93, of Fremont, died Sunday morning at Countryside Continuing Care Center. He was born in Riley Township on September 21, 1913 to Joseph and Cecelia (Reineck) Eberly. Edgar graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School in 1931.
He married Margaret Ann McMahon on June 17, 1944 at Holy Angels Church in Sandusky. They were married for 54 years. Edgar was a farmer and was employed at H.J. Heinz Company until his retirement in 1978. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Catholic Knights of Ohio, Fremont Moose, St. Joe Booster Club, Farm Bureau Council and various card clubs. Edgar enjoyed attending county fairs and taking countryside drives.
He is survived by his daughters: Marcia (Edmund) Carey of Huntley, Illinois; and Cathy Eberly of Lexington, Massachusetts; son, Martin (Wanda) Eberly of Fremont, 7 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and special friend Marjorie Gruver He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Margaret, grandson Timothy Carey, and sister, Theresa Gabel.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 2-8 P.M. at Keller-Ochs-Koch Funeral Home 416 S. Arch St.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Father David Bruning officiating.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials may be made in Edgar's name to Hospice of Memorial Hospital, St. Joseph Catholic Church or St. Joseph Central Catholic High School.
