Bernadine Ann "Bernie" Esker, 69, of Fremont died Sunday evening at Countryside Continuing Care Center after struggling with dementia for many years.
She was born on January 7, 1939 in Fremont to Bernard and Cecelia (Hammer) Hoffman. She was a 1957 graduate of Jackson Burgoon High School. On July 26, 1954 she married Bernard W. Esker, he preceded her in death on November 11, 2005. Bernie retired from Eveready Battery after 26 years of service and had been a waitress at Ole Zim's Wagon Shed. She was a member of Millersville, St. Mary's Catholic Church and a former member of the Fremont Eagles and Moose. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren especially cooking out and swimming.
Surviving are her children: Ben W. (Pamela) Esker Jr. of Dublin, OH; Karen (Ron) Kelbley of Bellevue, OH; grandchildren: Nathan, Matthew, Andrew, Steven, and Ryan; brothers: Lawrence (Marilyn) Hoffman of Fostoria, OH; George Hoffman of Lindsey,OH; sisters: Catherine "Kitty" Lotycz of Fremont, OH; Mary Lou (Wayne) Stults and Agnes (David) Peiffer of Fremont, OH. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant daughter, Debra Marie and brothers, Cletus (Anna) Hoffman and Carl Hoffman.
Visitation: will be Friday from 4 to 8 at Keller-Ochs-Koch-Mason Funeral & Cremation Service, 416 S. Arch St., Fremont, OH.
Mass of Resurrection: will take place Saturday, December 27, 10:30 A.M. with visitation one hour prior beginning at 9:30A.M. at Millersville St. Mary's Catholic Church, Millersville, OH, with Fr. Ted Miller and Deacon George Miller officiating.
Burial: will follow at Millersville St. Mary's Cemetery
