Biography

Isabel Duncan, 86 of Browns, IL passed away at 10:40 PM Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at Rest Haven Manor in Albion, IL.

Isabel Lucy Cromie was born July 5, 1924 in Ballykinler, Northern Ireland the daughter of James and Susan Cromie. She was one of seven children, all preceding her in death. She came to the United States as the bride of Harold (Mannie) Duncan in 1946. He also preceded her in death October 5, 1982.

She is survived by three children Harry (Carolyn) Duncan of Browns, IL, Janice (Bruce) Jennings of Modesto, CA, John (Denise) Duncan of Browns, IL, six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. One grandson preceded her in death.

She was often referred to as the “Irish Lady” of Browns. She loved to attend Edwards County sporting events, garden and knit. Many in the area have enjoyed her handmade slippers, which she often donated to the Browns Fire Department for their fundraising events.

Funeral service will be Sunday, January 9, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Ingram Funeral Home in Albion, IL. Burial will be in the Browns Cemetery in Browns, IL. Visitation will be Sunday, January 9, 2011 from 12:00 noon until time of service at the Ingram Funeral Home in Albion.

Memorials may be made to the Edwards County Senior Citizens.
