BiographyFuneral services for Doris Y. Henry, age 95, a resident of the United Helpers Nursing Home and formerly of Lisbon will be held on Wednesday (May 6, 2009) at 2:00pm at the 1st Congregational Church of Lisbon with Rev. Michael Boehm & Rev. Walter Smith co-officiating. Burial will follow at White Church Cemetery in Lisbon.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 6-9pm at the funeral home. Mrs. Henry passed away on Monday (May 4, 2009) at the nursing home surrounded by her loving family. Arrangements are with the Fox-McLellan Funeral Home.
Mrs. Henry is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Warren (Edith) Fletcher of Lisbon, Mrs. Donald (Janice) Bouchard of Ogdensburg; one son Roger J. Henry and his wife Barbara of Clermont, FL and Ogdensburg; a nephew Donald Young & his wife Sandy of FL; one niece, Mrs. Gary (Carol) Sovinsky of Apalachin, NY; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren & 2 step-great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband Herbert S. Henry in 1993; a grandson Roger J. Henry Jr. in 1990, and her brother Maurice A.Young in 2006.
Mrs. Henry was born in South Colton on March 23, 1914 a daughter of the late Lewis and Sadie (Cunningham) Young. She graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academyl in 1933 and married Herbert S. Henry on Sept 30, 1933 at the Methodist Parsonage in Ogdensburg with Rev. Oliver Raymond officiating the couple’s marriage.
Mrs. Henry worked in Ogdensburg at Woolworth’s, McCadam Cheese Co. and Newell Manufacturing. She retired from Newell’s on April 30, 1976 as a receptionist.
Her favorite Hobbies were knitting dish cloths and writing poetry. Memorial contributions can be made in her name to the First Congregational Church of Lisbon c/o Jeff Deruchia, 33 North Road Lisbon, NY 13658.
