Biography

Nola Mae Perry Williams, 77, of Palatka, peacefully entered the sunset of life on Monday, February 4, 2013 at Putnam Community Medical Center. She was a native of Broxton, GA., born on Tuesday, April 9, 1935, to the late Lewis and Janie Perry. The youngest of eleven children, she grew up in Fitzgerald, GA and was educated in the Ben Hill County Georgia School District. Although during childhood, her family endured “hard times” she was always so grateful and appreciative of being so blessed. In 1953, she moved to Palatka, FL., and subsequently met Jimmie Lee Williams and they united in marriage on May 8, 1954. “Mother” Williams gave her life to Christ at an early age and became a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in the 1970’s. She served on the Deaconess Ministry, Choir Ministry and in the Sunday School Ministry. Deaconess Williams was a talented hairdresser for many years that simply enjoyed the fellowship while straightening, curling and waving her customers’ hair. She was an avid Florida Gator fan and well-known for her skillful cooking of enormous, delicious meals for family and friends.

Williams, Sr., and Larry Williams; daughter, Hattie “Sugar Ma” Williams-Jones; brothers, Lee Perry, James Perry, Lewis Perry, Charlie Perry, Willie Perry, and Ed Perry; sisters, Willie B. Tyler, Mary Perry Jones, Idella Perry Young, and Lillie Mae Perry Jordan; Godmother, Corine McClendon.

(Sharon) Williams; daughters, Dorothy Hutchinson, Kathy (Jessie) Lee, Ester Wright, Permelia (Craig) Williams, Janice (Tory) Wilson, Vernesia (Curley) Gilmore, all of Palatka; dedicated granddaughter, Keashia (Chavarro Sr.) Thomas; devoted great-granddaughter, Kanecia Robinson; raised as daughters, Latima Fells, Tampa, FL and Erica Williams, Palatka; daughter-in-law, Sarah Williams, Palatka, FL; sisters-in-law, Winell Perry, Delores Purdy, and Edna Williams, all of Palatka; Laura Catherine Perry, Fitzgerald, GA., brothers-in-law, Simuel (Mary) Williams, Sumter, SC; Robert James Williams, San Francisco, CA; aunt, Susie Mae White, Gainesville, FL; goddaughters, Lalita (Timothy Jr.) Thomas and Annette Hannah, both of Palatka; 33 grandchildren, 94 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and caring friends.
