William Clark Ensor, Jr., 91, formerly of Glyndon, died on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at the Lorien Nursing Home in Lutherville Timonium, MD. Born September 15, 1921 in Monkton, MD, he was the son of the late William and Oda (Gaines) Ensor. He was the husband of the late Jessie Elizabeth Ensor, who died on September 20, 2012.
Clark Ensor was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving proudly in World War II from 1944-1946. He was a member of the 78th Infantry Division during that time. The 78th was the division to capture the German stronghold of Schmidt. After taking part in the defensive fighting during the Battle of the Bulge, the 78th resumed the offensive capturing the Roer Dams. Clark was awarded the Bronze Star, an award given for heroic or meritorious achievement, and he and his division was awarded a Presidential Citation for their service.
He was the estate manager at Worthington Farms in Glyndon, MD for 44 years.
He was a member of Charity Lodge #134 in Parkton, MD and the American Legion of Chestertown.
Surviving are his son - William C. Ensor III and his wife Patricia of Phoenix, MD; two granddaughters - Jennifer Brooks and husband Douglas, Elizabeth Collora and husband Keith ; grandson - William Clark Ensor IV; six great-grandsons, Will and Clark Ensor, Lewis and Dylan Collora and Spencer and Reece Brooks; sister-in-law - Jane Palmer; brother-in-law - George V. Palmer. He is also survived by his extended family, J.W.Y. (Duck) Martin, Jr. and his wife Glennie, Carol M. Corrigan and her husband Jim, Alexander (Sandy) B. Martin and his wife Beaumont and Peter Y. Martin.
He was predeceased by sisters Gladys Manger and Elizabeth Sweet, brothers-in-law Guy K. Gill, John H. Gill and sister-in-law Elaine G. Cofiell.
Friends may call on Thursday, February 21, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. at Eline Funeral Home, 934 S. Main Street, Hampstead. Memorial services will be held on Friday, February 22, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Falls Road U.M. Church, 15335 Falls Road, Sparks Glencoe, MD 21152. Interment will be in Falls Road U.M. Church Cemetery.
