Ruth Peterson, 79, a resident of Morningside Health Center, died at St. Nicholas Hospital on Sunday, March 14, 2010.
Ruth was born September 14, 1930 in Sheboygan to Gottlieb and Dorothea (Keller) Niesing. She attended local elementary schools and Sheboygan Central High School.
On July 19, 1952 she was united in marriage to Arthur A. Peterson. The couple resided on Erie Ave. for many years before moving to Morningside Health Center in 2007. They enjoyed being members of the Sheboygan Dog Training Club. Art preceded her in death on April 22, 2009.
Ruth was formerly employed at Leverenz Shoe Co., most recently at St. Nicholas Hospital as housekeeper.
In Ruth’s younger years, she enjoyed fishing trips and dancing. Many happy times were also spent playing cards with her family.
Survivors include two children, Arthur (Carol) Peterson Jr. of Kiel and Dorothea Stemper of Sheboygan; four grandchildren, Donna, Jason, Noah, and Drake; a sister, Rose (Chuck) Blankenship of Stonewall, OK; a brother, Waldemar (Evelyn) Niesing of Sheboygan; and other relatives.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was preceded in death by a son, Donald; four sisters, Sophie Niesing, Esther Boge, Marie Markus, and Emma Kriese; six brothers, Jacob, Gottlieb Jr., Frederick, David, Robert and John; and a son-in-law, Bruce Stemper.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 2:00 P.M. at Ballhorn Funeral Chapels. Rev. Dr. Steven J. Pedersen will officiate. Burial will take place in Wildwood Cemetery. A time of visitation and support will be held at Ballhorn Chapels on Tuesday (TODAY) from 12 noon until the time of service.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
Ruth will always be remembered for the love shared with her family and her dogs, and the joy she received from her doll collection.
