Biography

Elizabeth Teters, age 87 of Bolivar, Missouri passed away at 11:00am on Thursday morning, December 27, 2012 at Parkview Healthcare Facility in Bolivar.

She was born on May 26, 1925 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Samuel Courts Redford, Sr. and Helen Ruth (Ford) Redford. The family moved to Bolivar when Dr. Redford became president of Southwest Baptist College. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined the first Baptist Church in Bolivar and remained a member until her death.

Elizabeth and Roy E. Teters, Jr. were married from 1942 until 1974. They had two children Janet Lea Teters and Larry Roy Teters.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Courts and Ruth Redford, one daughter, Janet Snook, two sisters, Virginia Hopper and Carolyn Redford, and a brother, John Morgan Redford.

Elizabeth is survived by her son, Larry Teters and his wife Nancy of Rogersville, MO., son-in-law, James Snook of Florence, AZ., three sisters, Rosemary McCord and her husband Al of Norman, OK., Sylvia Peavy of Buford, GA., Jeanette Redford of The Villages, FL., three brothers, Samuel Courts Redsford, Jr. and his wife Joan of Los Angeles, CA., David Eugene Redford and his wife Joan of Tucker, GA., William Robert Redford and his wife Pat of Decatur, GA., seven grandchildren, Stanton Teters, New York City, NY; James Teters and wife Janell of Springfield, MO; Angela Long and husband Andrew of St. Peters, MO; and Nancy Lane Coulter and husband Buddy of Springfield, MO; David Burks of Springfield, MO; Robert Burks and wife Melissa of Bolivar, MO; Stephen Burks and wife Vanessa of Springfield, MO; and thirteen great grandchildren, Jacob Burks, Caleb Burks, Hunter Burks, Hayden Burks, Evan Teters, Grant Teters, Lola Teters, Roman Teters, Drew Long, Adam Long, Alea Burks, Kylie Burks, Hannah Burks and Trinity Burks.
She is also survived by Charles Fraser, who gave her love and care for the last 18 years of her life, a brother-in-law, Bo Russell of Kansas City, MO., many relatives and a host of friends.

Elizabeth worked at Teters Nursery & Floral with Roy and his parents, Roy & Mabel Teters for many years after Roy, Jr. returned from serving in WWII. She would prepare the flowers for the floral pieces; make deliveries, and even hand carry monthly statements to customers.

She was a member of the PEO, The Thursday Music Club, the Ladies Golf Association, many bridge clubs and Tennis groups. She served as president of the PTA and was a room mother every year her children were in grade school. She served on the board of the Redford School of Theology, played her violin in the Springfield Symphony for several years, sang in the First Baptist Church choir and taught a Sunday School class for high school girls for fifteen years.
A Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 30, 2012 from 1:00 PM till Service Time at the Butler Chapel.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 30, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the Butler Funeral Home Chapel with Ray Leininger officiating. Musical selections will be “The Holy City” a Violin Solo performed by Carol Harrison, “Amazing Grace” solo by Lane Teters Coulter, “Wish You Were Here” solo by David Hacker, “How Great Thou Art” Congregational singing lead by Stephen Burks. Pianist will be Jobeth Maas.
Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Bolivar under the care and direction of the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, Missouri. Casketbearers will be David Burks, Stanton Teters, Robert Burks, James Teters, Stephen Burks and Andrew Long.
