Estella Cecil


Estella D. Cecil, age 86, of Winter, WI passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2008 at the Park Manor Nursing Home in Park Falls, WI.


Estella Delores Daniels was born on February 28, 1922 in Gdanok, Poland and immigrated to the United States in 1922.   She was one of the original settlers on Clover Road in Winter, WI.  She went to school at Barker Lake School and graduated from Winter High School in 1938.  She attended the Barron County Normal School for one year.  Estella moved to Chicago, IL where she worked for several years and enjoyed traveling.  On February 8, 1941 she was joined in marriage to Verdun Cecil.  She was very active in school activities and was a past member of the Legion Auxiliary.  Estella worked many different jobs in the hospitality industry but was noted for her excellent cooking and baking skills by her family friends and general public.


Estella is survived by her four children, Verdun (Jane) Cecil of Sheboygan, WI, David Cecil of Birchwood, WI, Roger Cecil of Park Falls, WI and Delores (Charles) Cecil of Loretta, WI; nine grandchildren, Sara (Steve) Grover, of Cedarburg, WI, Timothy (Samantha) Cecil of Watertown, WI, Mark (Janice) Cecil of Belgium, WI; Jonathan Cecil of Belgium, WI, Matthew (Jodi Burt) Cecil of Winter, WI, Desiree (Craig) Platteter of Richfield, MN, Alison (Joe Burt) Cecil of Winter, WI, Melissa (Scott) Rasmussen, Oshkosh, WI, Leslie Briskman of Palm Desert, CA; thirteen great grandchildren, Molly, Theo, Ellery, Hannah, Emma, Faith, Elliott, Olivia, Holly, Sebastian, Spencer, Ty, and Alexa; and many friends and neighbors.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Verdun; foster parents, Hannah and John Lundberg; parents, and two brothers, Adam and Philip.


A funeral service for Estella will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 26, at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Draper.  A time of visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the church.  Interment will follow at the Winter Cemetery.
